So sorry to hear of Ernie's passing. I met Ernie in the mid-70's when I was in high school showing at the Guymon fair. We also sold out show steers and other fat cattle to him when he was buying for Swift. I always enjoyed visiting with Ernie and listening to his very knowledgable take on the cattle business. He will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Clifford Fleming

Great Friend, lots of memories!! Lot of memories when our kids showed lambs and when he was at Swift. One time when we were working at Texas Co. Feed Yard, back in the 60's, Swift had a big old Brahamer cross steer jump the pens and got to the river. They sent me and Duck Blackburn to go rope him and take him back to the plant. I had him roped and had been dragging him through the trees and my horse give out. Ernie had gone with us to drive the pickup and trailer. We were just about to the trailer and my horse was tired. Told Ernie if he would let the steer see him and run to the trailer we would get him loaded, the steer was on the fight big time. Ernie did and sure nuff he went right to Ernie. After going around the trailer and pickup a few times and a good cussing from Ernie we loaded him, and a long laugh after. He truly was a great friend!!
