Donald Gribble

June 28, 1932 ~ September 30, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Donald John Gribble, 84, passed away Friday September 30, 2016 at The Dunaway/Heritage Manor in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Donald John Gribble was born on June 28, 1932 in Guymon to Joe Alvin and Margaret (Zuerker) Gribble. He attended Guymon schools, graduating with the GHS Class of 1951.

Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War and was stationed in New Bedford, Massachusetts.   He was united in marriage to Wynona Reed on January 28, 1954 in New Bedford Massachusetts.  

Don and Wynona were members of Morning Star Methodist Church.  During his working career Donald worked for Southwest Public Service.

Donald’s hobbies included bowling with Wynona, fishing and watching baseball and football.  He was an avid Oklahoma Sooner, Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankee fan. His most treasured times were spent with his family.

Donald is survived by his daughter, Nona Gayle Cole; two brothers, Joe Carroll Gribble and wife, Leonene; and Samuel Dale Gribble, all of Guymon.  He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews including Carol Hopson and husband Dwight, Roger Gribble and wife Angie, Greg Gribble and wife Katy, Melanie Bixler, Brad Gribble, and Angie Gribble and their families. Other survivors include great nieces and nephews, J.D Gribble and wife Karli, Damie Jones and husband Brian, great-great nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Jones, Colvin Gribble, Clint Gribble, Jessica Lloyd and husband Cord, Madison Bixler, and Brian Gribble.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Virgil Gribble and his beloved wife, Wynona Gribble, in June 2010.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM till 6:30 PM Monday October 3, 2016 at the Henson-Novak Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM-6:30 PM

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon with Max Whipple officiating.

Memorials may be made out to either Dunaway/Heritage Manor or Morning Star Methodist Church and may be accepted by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, P.O. box 1306 Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
