Spearman, Texas – Carl D. Kunselman, 66, passed away Monday morning, September 26, 2016 at Hansford County Hospital, Spearman, Texas.

The son of Donald H. Kunselman and  Ella Rose Jackson, Carl Dean Kunselman was born November 14, 1949 in Borger, Texas.  Carl graduated from Spearman High School in 1968 and then graduated from Panhandle State University, Goodwell, Oklahoma in 1972 with a Bachelors Degree in Agronomy.  While at Panhandle State, he met  his future wife,  Janie Goff, from Cimarron County.   They married on June 30, 1971 at the Marella United Methodist Church, Griggs Community, Oklahoma.  Carl and Janie first lived in Beaver County, Oklahoma before Carl brought his bride back to Spearman in 1974 and began farming.  Carl’s faith and church family were always very important, and he served the First Christian Church as an Elder.  He helped and was active in his children’s activities, volunteering with 4-H and FFA, serving on the Hansford County Livestock Board.   He was a past member of the Spearman School Board and served on the FSA Board.   Carl farmed in the Spearman area, seeing many good and bad years, but like a good steward of the land, was waiting and expecting another good crop.  He was a man of great integrity with strong work ethics.  Carl took pride in his wife, children, and grandchildren, whom he adored.

He is survived by his sweetheart and wife of 45 years, Janie Kunselman; daughter, Karla Acton and husband, Todd of Moore, OK; two sons, Cameron Kunselman and wife, Kristi of Walsh, CO; Dan Kunselman and wife, Celeste of Satanta, KS; a brother, Jim Kunselman and wife, Verla of Plainview, TX;  two sisters, Karen Clawson and husband, Larry of Sudan, TX; LaVon Reid and husband, Randy of Denison, TX.   He was Papa to his six grandchildren, Dylan Acton, Kadence and Averi Kunselman, Carl, Kara and Clayton Kunselman.  He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Gwen and A.B. Steen of Tulsa, OK; Stan Shryock of Boise City, OK; Clayton and Nadine Goff of Guymon, OK; Clinton and Mary Ann Goff of Salem, OR and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Rose Kunselman; sister-in-law, Carolyn Shryock and brother-in-law, Jeffrey Goff.
