Bernita Yvonne Ingle Richards was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and admired educator.  The daughter of Jesse Smith (Boss) Ingle and Eliza Elvira Hess Ingle, she was born in Dalhart, Texas on February 3, 1927.  She was one of four siblings, Earl Ingle, Ervin Ingle and Marvin Ingle.  Bernita passed away early morning October 8th, 2016 in Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas, Texas.

Bernita attended school in Texhoma, graduating with the class of 1945.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Panhandle State University in May 1965 beginning her career as a dedicated educator, teaching in the Texhoma elementary schools until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Texhoma where she was clerk and organist for many years. 

Bernita was united in marriage to Glenn Dean Richards, son of Roy B and Eva Hansen Richards, on February 8, 1947.  Together they raised five daughters, Glenna Williams, Ronda Mathews, Brenda Gray, Nelda Vineyard and Denae Richards.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, her parents and her three brothers. She is survived by her five daughters, Glenna and husband Rick Williams, Ronda Mathews, Brenda Gray, Nelda and husband Steve Vineyard, and Denae Richards.  Surviving grandchildren are Dana Saylor, Allyssa Gutierrez, Carly and husband Casey Nelson, Amanda Vineyard, Adam and wife Jenna Vineyard.  Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service honoring both Bernita & Dean at the First Baptist Church in Texhoma on November 12th at 2:00pm.

Interment will be at the Texhoma Cemetery
