Vern Twombly

March 25, 1994 ~ March 12, 2020 (age 25)

Obituary

On Thursday March 12th , 2020, heaven gave wings to a very special angel, Vern Everett Twombly.
Coming into this world may well have been the fastest thing Vern did! He came rushing into this world at 1:24 PM on March 25, 1994. His parents, Cole and Sheila Twombly, took Vern home to sister Savannah to start this brand-new adventure in Lamar, CO. As the wit and humor grew, so did the boy! Eventually, Vern spread laughter through every baseball team he played for. Then, when he got old enough, the laughter came through the cattle barn when he started showing cattle. Vern saved back all of his show heifers for cows and built a herd of cows that he took great pride in. The only thing Vern was more proud of than his cows was Savannah and little brother Frank. Vern would fight terrible with Frank, but nobody could look wrong at Frank or he’d whip ‘em.

Vern graduated from Boise City High School in 2012 with a very tight knit group of kids that would fight together, laugh together, and forever have each other’s backs. After graduation, Vern went to work for Joey and Rene Meister. Joey liked to laugh, and Vern liked to laugh. Not sure how much work got done, but it didn’t take long till Vern adopted another family that adopted him back. Vern grew in a background of farming and cows. Joey challenged him to weld better, fix anything, and to overcome any obstacle in his way. Vern basically learned to rebuild a motor with a paper clip and a set of chop sticks.

Vern loved life! He loved shooting guns, going fishing, junk sales, cattle sales, sheep sales, goat sales, pig sales, and more junk sales. It didn’t matter, Vern would find a “bargain” and have to show it off. But his greatest love in life came when he became an uncle to Vivienne Rae Gonzales. He might have even loved his new niece more than he loved Missy, his Australian Sheppard and forever companion.

Vern is preceded in death by his grandparents, Vern and Marilyn Twombly, Clarence Mayo, and uncle Pete Appel. He is survived by his dad Cole and stepmom Cora Twombly of the Griggs community, mother, Sheila Twombly of Brandon, CO, sister Savannah Vagher and another “adopted” family member Justin Gonzales of Lamar, CO. His long-time partner in crime, most feared adversary, and brother Frank Twombly of the Griggs community. The matriarch of the Mayo family, Vern’s best friend, and grandmother, Joyce Mayo of Chivington, CO. Step brother and sister Cuinton and Cenzie White of the Griggs Community, who forever enjoyed his wit and advice. A list of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and “adopted” family that would take all day to list. And the love of his life, his niece, Vivienne Rae Gonzales of Lamar, CO
