Tommie Ogston Obituary

Tommie Jean Ogston, 82-year-old resident of Boise City, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Coon Memorial Nursing Home in Dalhart, Texas.

Tommie Jean was delivered and named by her aunt Lou Ellen on January 5, 1941 west of Boise City, Oklahoma to John Ross and Claudia (Billie) Myrdle Eiland.  She attended Boise City High School graduating with the class of 1959. 

Tommie was a Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts and worked in the family owned café –“The Coney Eiland” in Boise City as a teenager.

She married her high school sweetheart Charles “Chuck” Ogston on March 10, 1959 at Sunny Lane Methodist Church in Del City, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with three children: Debora LaVon, Charles Ford and Billy Ross.

During her working career she worked for Dr. Bombach and worked side by side with her husband on the farm, doing whatever needed to be done. She drove tractor, moved pipe and kept things running smoothly.

In her spare time she enjoyed quilting( she belonged to a quilting club in her younger years) gardening, helping with the activities and being a caregiver and enjoyed volunteering at the nursing home, was a member of the Red Hat Society, was very involved in St. Paul’s Methodist Church activities and loved spending time with her family.

Tommie was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Charles “Chuck” Ogston in 2019 and one son: Billy Ross Ogston.

She is survived by one daughter Debbie Norfleet and husband Chuck of Yukon, Oklahoma, one son: Charles “Runt” Ogston and wife Janay of Boise City, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Kathy Eddelman and husband Eddie of Boise City, Oklahoma. 

Tommie also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon till 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Henson-Novak Funeral Directors in Boise City. 

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Boise City Cemetery with Pastor Kim Mizer officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made out to Cimarron Heritage Center or charity of choice in Tommie’s name and will be accepted by the funeral home at p.o. box 1306, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
