Phyllis Claycomb Obituary

Phyllis Claycomb, 85-year-old Guymon, Oklahoma resident passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family, it was also 17 years to the day since her husband Johnny passed.

Phyllis Sue Wood was born June 3, 1937 in Winfield, Kansas to Harold and Ruth(Warmbrodt) Wood. The family moved from Winfield to Guymon in 1948. Phyllis attended Guymon Public Schools graduating with the class of 1955. After high school she attended one year at PAMC.

She was united in marriage with Johnny Mack Claycomb on February 12, 1955 in Pampa, Texas. This union was blessed with six children.

She was a church secretary and music minister for over 36 years. Phyllis was also secretary for Federal Land Bank, Guymon Chamber of Commerce, Robert G. Cole Accounting, Stanfield Printing and helped with Guymon High School Choir and the Community Theatre and other musical competitions.

Phyllis was a member of OES for many years.

Preceding her in death is her husband Johnny in 2006, her parents: Harold and Ruth, two daughters: Nancy Claycomb and Tracy Sturgell, grandparents: Ivan and Lucy Sleeth and Roy and Stella Wood, two sons in law: Gilbert Perales and Chip McFarland, sister-in-law: Raedeane Gupton, brothers in law: Dale Schriber Jr., Jimmie Claycomb, James Tharp, In laws: Dale and Kathryn Schriber, nephew: Rick Wood, niece: Nancy Robinson and her brother Buddy Wood.

Phyllis is survived by three daughters: Joni and Richard Loughridge of Guymon, Connie Perales of Guymon, Jacki McFarland of Enid, one son: Johnny Mack Jr. and Terri Claycomb of Drummonds, Tennessee, son in law: Rick Sturgell of Newalla, Oklahoma, in laws: Kay Tharp of Yukon, Oklahoma, Jimmy Gupton of LaVernia, Texas and Jack and Dickie Schriber of Guymon, Oklahoma, grandchildren: Paige Loughridge and Mike Holdren, Lane Loughridge, Cody and Jessy Sturgell, Luke and Jana Sturgell, Robert and Jody McClaflin, Josh Perales, Tracy Perales, Jackson Anderson, Garron and Jett Nixon, Jayci Anderson, Jake Anderson and Clark McFarland, great-grandchildren Raven Holdren, Damien Holdren, Tyler Holdren, Skyler Holdren, Maddie Sturgell, Logan Sturgell, Grace Sturgell, Tucker Sturgell, Hannah Sturgell, Xavier Perales, A’laia Perales, Jaime Perales, Autumn McClaflin and Avery McClaflin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation will be 12:00 noon till 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023 with the family being present from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. to greet friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Victory Memorial Methodist Church with Don Taylor and David Player officiating. Interment will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.

Memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis' name to the Victory Memorial Methodist Church music ministry and will be accepted by the funeral home.
