Pat Holt Obituary

Robert Patrick Holt, 89, was born in Dalhart, Texas, October 12, 1931. He passed away December 11, 2020, in Spearman, Texas. Pat was the son of Coy Madison Holt and Eva Alexander Holt. He spent his entire life in Hansford County. He was a graduate of Gruver High School and West Texas State University. He married Georgia Buzzard on December 28, 1954. To this union, they welcomed four children: Kevin, Beth, Eva and Kristi.

His passions were farming and ranching, and he was a steward of the land. He embraced innovative farming practices. He loved making memories with his family and loved to travel. He was proud to say that he had seen all 50 capitols in all 50 states. Whenever there was a good rain, he seized the opportunity to go on vacation, but while on vacation, there was no time to rest. He said, “You can rest when you get home.” He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he never missed a chance to stop at pawn shops and antique stores along the way.

Pat’s favorite pastime was rodeo, from peewee to professional and everything in between. He was an avid supporter of Gruver athletics.

He was a thinker and problem solver. Friends and family alike valued his wisdom on a variety of subjects. He had a quiet, calm, respected manner.

Pat loved a good steak, and he especially enjoyed buying a good steak for family and friends!

He was a member of the Gruver United Methodist Church. He was a director for the National Finance Credit Corporation.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Nick Holt.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia, of 65 years; sisters Comfort Winders and Elizabeth Holt; brother Coy Miles Holt; sister-in-law, Trixie Holt; son Kevin Holt and wife Ronda; daughter Beth Tripp and husband Phil; daughter Eva Edmonds and husband Pat; and daughter Kristi Holt.

He loved his nine grandchildren: Brad Holt and wife Josie, Kaylee Etbauer and husband Trell, Rachelle Shirley and husband Jess, Holt Tripp and wife Hollie, Landri Lawhorne and husband Tim, Lindsay Olson and husband Tim, Logan Edmonds, Carson Edmonds, and Shan Edmonds.

He was blessed with nine great grandchildren whom he adored: Rally and Ridge Etbauer, Bailor and Merritt Holt, Brooke Shirley, Channing Tripp, Penny and Trevor Lawhorne, and Harper Olson.
