Norman Bledsoe Obituary

Norman Dean “Bud” Bledsoe, 90, passed away after a short illness on March 7, 2021 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was a lifelong resident of Guymon.

Bud was the second child of father John Sumner Bledsoe and mother, Lillian Beatrice Watkins Bledsoe. His siblings included John Jr, LoRee, Darrel, and Bill.
Bud attended Guymon High School and served in the US Army from 1952-54 in Schweinfurt, Germany. Upon his return from military service, he partnered with his father and three brothers in the family business, Bledsoe Welding. The “Bledsoe Boys” drove easily recognizable canary yellow welding rigs and established themselves as expert pipeline welders throughout the U.S., a profession from which Bud retired. His immense talent as a welder was matched only by his skill at fabrication. Bud never met a math problem he couldn’t solve, and even taught himself to write a computer program for belt and saddle calculations.

His kind smile and sparkling blue eyes warmed everyone who knew him. He was a humble, soft-spoken and gentle man who had super-hero strength in intellect, opinions, and loyalty. He was devoted to his wife, Lennah and their blended family of 6 children, 13 grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren.

He loved God, gardening, computers, researching his family tree and even the Dallas Cowboys, but only when they were winning.
Although he and Lennah attended school together in their youth, their romance did not blossom until later in life when they married in December, 1988.

Bud is survived by Lennah, his loving wife of 32 years, and his two daughters from a previous marriage, Deborah Dean Wright (Don) of Georgetown, Texas and Michelle LoRee Frith (Ron) of Manchaca, Texas, three direct grandsons, David Dean Wright (Leigh) of Eagle River, Alaska, Devin Lee Wright (Setsumi) of Austin, Texas and Sumner Thomas Meckel (Chelsea) of Kyle, Texas as well as Lennah’s children from a previous marriage, including Connie Clemans (Alan) of Guymon, Oklahoma, Jody (Charla) Pierce of Guymon, Oklahoma, Jim Pierce of Benton, Arkansas, Jerry (Rita) Pierce of Edmond, Oklahoma, Grandchildren: Julie Pierce, Barbara Toth, Chris Pierce, Joshua Pierce, Shanna Raper, Kirby Pierce, Tara Burnett, Erin Dick, Spencer Pierce, Steven Pierce and 2 great-grandchildren, Hudson Miguel Wright and Gibson Dean Wright also included are 17 more great-grandchildren.

Of his original nuclear family, Bud is survived by his sister, LoRee Foreman of Amarillo, Texas and is preceded in death by his brothers John Jr., Darrel, and Bill and their parents, John and Lillian.
