Nico Collins Obituary

On January 31, 1990, I came into this world like a football into the arms of Doctor Bombach in Boise City, Oklahoma.  I was given the unique name of Nico Lee Collins by my parents, Tonya and Tony Collins.  I really wanted to be the only child, but alas, Cicaley Marie, Destin Graham and Damion Jade were added to be my loving siblings.

I graduated from Boise City High School in 2008 with the help of Mrs. Linda Johnson.  I loved playing football and cheering on and pumping up my team to win.  My favorite team is the Oakland Raiders and one day they WILL win the Super Bowl.

I loved cooking…thank you Mom for teaching me.  In 2011 and 2012, I enjoyed preparing meals for 300 or more homeless people a day at the Faith City Ministries in Amarillo, Texas.  Also, I loved my jobs on the oil rig with my Dad and working with my Uncle David, drilling water wells for Water Right Irrigation, Inc. in Texhoma, OK.

My survivors include my son, Legion Lee Collins of Rolla, KS, who is my mini-me and on the day he was born we looked out the window to see a beautiful double rainbow; my mother, Tonya Collins of Springfield, CO; my father Tony Collins and his friend, Connie Flores of Boise City; my sister Cicaley Collins and husband, Kenyon; my brother Destin Collins and wife, Jessica and my beautiful niece Joellynn Pearl of Clayton, NM; my youngest brother I got to name, Damion Collins of Springfield, CO; and my loving and praying grandmothers, Dwilene Holbert and Maria Collins of Boise City.

I am now with those who preceded me in death, my loving grandfathers, J.G. Stockton, who I got my football abilities from, Norman Holbert, who was always giving me loving advice about life and Manuel Collins; my doting great grandmother Odalee Bohn, Mae Stockton, Isabel Romero Collins and Aurora Alba; my great grandfathers, Dwight Bohn, Jack Stockton, Manuel Joe Collins and Ambrosia Alba.

I want all my aunts- Debora, Sheli, Anna, Brenda, uncles- Stanley, Lee, Johnny, Jimmy, David, cousins-Lee, Nicholas, Levi, Narci, Chandra, Adrien, Simeon, Silas, Heather, Dillon, EmaLeigh, Audrey, Zack, Rylie, Haley, Jacklyn, Preston, Jackie, Lucas, Liam, Emerie, Audrey, Akia, Khloe, Nayeli and Kevin to know I will miss each and every one of you and to remember the fun and good conversations we had.

Even though I left this world behind on February 5, 2019, I’m writing this from Heaven, where I dwell with God above, where there is no more tears and sadness, there is just eternal love.  When you are walking down the street and you’ve got me on your mind, I’m walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind.  And when you feel that gentle breeze, or the wind upon your face… that’s me giving you a big hug or just a soft embrace.  And when it is time for you to go from that body to be free, remember you’re not going…you are coming here to me.

To all my friends and family…I love you all so much.
