Michael D. Hager, 46-year-old of Canyon, TX passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Christopher
House Hospice in Austin, TX.
Michael was born to Herb and Wynell Hager on November 25, 1974 in Dumas, TX and was the youngest of four children. As a child, Michael lived in Spearman, TX where he attended school, played football, basketball, and tennis and he and his doubles partner won 2nd at State in Austin, TX. He graduated from Spearman High School. Michael attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a Bachelors of Kinesiology from West Texas A&M. He lived in Canyon, TX and worked for Excel Energy in Amarillo, TX. He loved hiking in Palo Duro Canyon on the weekends and often travelled to Spearman to visit his parents on the weekends. An avid outdoorsman, Michael loved fly-fishing in New Mexico, back-packing and camping under the stars and enjoyed grilling and cooking. Family was everything to him and he loved big family gatherings of his brothers and their families, his sister and her husband. He loved seeing his nieces and nephews, along with their dogs, and was a magnet to every four-legged creature that came into his life. Michael was noted as a being a light to many, compassionate, kind with a ready laugh and wicked funny sense of humor. He appreciated the beauty and majesty of nature where he felt
connected with God.
Michael is survived by his parents Herb and Wynell, his two brothers, Aaron James of Mobile, AL and David & Joanne James of Hooper, UT and sister Andie Stafford and her husband John of Austin, TX.
His nieces and nephews: Logan & Kirsten James of Boston, MA, Courtney & Justin Ryan of Royston, GA, Hailey & Taylor Sorenson of Boston, MA, Megan James of Mobile, AL, Trevor James of American Fork, UT and Kara James of American Fork, UT and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends throughout Texas and
Visitation will be held on January 22, 2021 from 11:00 A.M - 1:30 P.M at Henson~Novak Funeral Chapel in Texhoma, Tx.
Graveside services will be held for the family at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Texhoma Cemetery in Texhoma, TX.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hansford Hospice in Spearman, TX or Christopher House Hospice in Austin, TX with Henson-Novak Funeral Home accepting donations.
