Mary Wise Obituary

Mary Jo Wise was born on March 13, 1949 in Dalhart, TX to Joseph B. Wise and

Virginia M. Urioste Wise. She lived her younger years in Alton, Illinois attending

Marquette Catholic Schools, and then later Alton High School. She had numerous

friends from Alton and kept current with many. In 1969 the family moved to Boise

City, Oklahoma and this is where Mary Jo spent the rest of her life until 2003

when she then moved to Altus, Oklahoma to be close to her mother.

In August of 2019, suffering from a chronic illness, Mary Jo moved into Advanced

Rehab of Vernon where she peacefully passed away on October 27, 2020.

Mary Jo worked hard all her life and started employment years at Olin

Ammunition Factory in Alton, Illinois making cartridges for the Vietnam War, and

later at Beverley Farms which is a private entity for special needs adults. She

worked at several businesses in Boise City such as the Townsman Restaurant,

Shamrock Cafe and at Cimarron Memorial Hospital as a Nurse Aide for several

years in the 1980s where she enjoyed taking care of her patients. She then

worked at Moore’s grocery store for many years while running the Branding Iron

Bar. She never met a stranger. She was well known, and most people will

remember her for her loving, and “always willing to help” nature and big, friendly

smile.

Mary Jo loved her family and loved being around them and watching them grow

up. She is survived by her sister, Jill Vianco & husband Michael Vianco of Altus,

Oklahoma; her 3 children, 2 boys and a girl listed from youngest to oldest: Son

Craig Lee Wait & wife Haley from Boise City, Oklahoma; daughter Kelly Joan Wise

from Lubbock, Texas, and son Sean Wren & wife Seanna from Terre Haute,

Indiana; and 3 grandchildren listed youngest to oldest: Brooklyn Wait, Colton

Wait, Blake Aguilar: and one niece Laci Jo Baker & husband Brady and children,

Jaxton, Kason, and Madilyn Jill, all of Altus, OK. Mary Jo also was very close to all

of her extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved her family dearly.

She is preceded in death by her father Joseph B. Wise, Her mother Virginia M.
