Marie Williams Obituary

Alice Marie Williams, 73 year old Boise City, Oklahoma resident passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Marie was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on July 4th, 1950 to Lorraine and Ambrose Cullen. She grew up on a farm where she loved to help with the daily chores and learn many skills, but her favorite pastime was sewing.

Marie went to a one room schoolhouse where she was educated until the eighth grade and attended school in Massena, Iowa where she graduated in 1968. After she graduated, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska and took a job working at Omaha National Bank. She worked there for several years until she decided to marry, move to the country and raise three children. Marie ended up in Dumas, Texas. Where she continued to raise her three kids after a divorce.

Several years went by and by fate she met the man of her dreams at a church social function. They married in the summer of 1991. Marie moved to Boise City, Oklahoma to settle down with Jim Williams, where she worked at The First State Bank of Boise City and Linda Tapp CPA.

Marie Enjoyed sewing, baking, fishing, camping, and tending to her flowers. Sewing was her favorite pastime. She started sewing at a young age and continued throughout her life. She made her own clothes, her kids clothes, wedding dresses, suits, prom dresses to name a few. She then decided to invest in a long arm quilting machine and made quilts for friends, family, and locals. Marie placed second, first and grand champion in different categories over the years at the Cimarron County Fair.

When she wasn’t sewing, she was sitting on a bank, fishing with her husband on one side and grandson on the other. They would bait her hook and take the fish off. No wonder she caught all the fish.

Marie enjoyed playing board games and cards too. When it came to cards, everyone wanted to be on her team. She was very competitive and didn’t like to lose. Marie was known to cheat, that one time.

Above all, what Marie cherished most was spending time with her family, who brought out her wonderfully contagious laugh.

Marie is survived by “Mister Wonderful”, Jim Williams of Boise City, Ok, daughters, Annette Lamberson of Aguilar, Co, Becki Gore of Iowa, Tawnya Dunning of Jay, Ok.
