Luis Chavez passed away on January 28th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born in El Paso, TX on January 1st, 1961 to Nieves Dolores Saenz de Chavez and Jose Guadalupe Chavez Contreras.
He resided in El Paso throughout his childhood and attended Bowie High School. Luis met Maria Magdalena Pacheco in 1977 and wed in 1980. They moved to Memphis, TN where Luis attended Memphis State University and graduated in Nuclear Studies. Afterwards, they moved to Foster Falls, VA where they had Jose Luis Chavez in 1982 and J Santana Chavez in 1985. They then moved to Waverly, VA in 1988 and had their 3rd child Jacqueline Pearl Chavez in 1989. From there, they moved to Littleton, NC in 1990, then onto Roanoke Rapids in 1992, and then to their final home of Guymon, OK in 1996.
Throughout his lifetime, Luis was a very hard-working man in management for the pork industry, auto body repair and finally completing his dreams of a self-employed general contractor. During his time in Guymon, Luis spent his spare time involved in a Southwest Kansas pool league with his kids, an active member of the Guymon Elks Lodge and spending time with his two granddaughters whom he adored.
Luis is preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline in 1990, his father, Jose Guadalupe and his grandparents, Manuel Saenz and Margarita Flores de Saenz.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Chavez, his two children Joey and Santana, and his two granddaughters Jazmine and Alexandra all of Guymon, OK.
Survivors also include his mother Dolores Melendez of El Paso and siblings: Maria Guadalupe Stone and husband Aldon Stone of Max Meadows, VA; Virginia Cordova of El Paso, TX; Pedro Chavez of North Carolina, Teresa Martinez of El Paso, TX; Martha Salazar and husband Alfonso of Waxahachie, TX; Jorge Chavez of El Paso, TX; and Mari Saenz of Waxahachie, TX. Also, numerous nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends.
Luis Chavez had an incredible impact on many people that had the pleasure of knowing him during his life. He was a man to be looked up to, admired and personal hero to some. He will be missed dearly by many and forever loved.
Visitation for Luis will be held from 1:00 P.M - 8:00 P.M on Tuesday February 2nd, 2021 at Henson~Novak Funeral Home in Guymon, OK
Funeral Services for Luis will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday February 3rd, 2021 at The Henson~Novak Funeral Chapel in Guymon, OK
Interment will be held on Monday February 8th, 2021 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in El Paso, Texas
