Louise Evans Obituary

Louise Dotson Evans, 90, lifelong Texhoma, TX resident passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

The daughter of Panhandle Pioneers, Henry Nicholas Shaw Dotson and Mary Matilda (McCormick), Wilma Louise Dotson was born on October 10, 1931 on the family homestead outside of Texhoma.  She graduated from Texhoma High School with the Class of 1948.  Louise was united in marriage to Bob Donald Evans on June 29, 1948 in Clayton, NM.  Louise and Bob made their home in the Texhoma area and she actively helped him in their farm and ranch operations.

Louise was an active member of the Texhoma United Methodist Church and she served in various church leadership capacities over the years, including the United Methodist Women’s group.  She was also a 70-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society.

Louise’s greatest passion in life was her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in their activities. Whether it was basketball, speech and debate tournaments, cheerleading, wrestling matches, high school football, or watching her grandsons’ football games at both the collegiate level and with the National Football League, she was a source of constant support.  She was also an avid traveler both internationally and domestically, having achieved her goal of visiting all 50 U.S. states and over 16 different international countries in her lifetime.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Shaw and Mary (McCormick) Dotson; her husband, Bob Donald Evans; a son, William  (Bill) Evans; a granddaughter, Misty (Evans) Inman; three brothers, James Isaac Dotson, Robert Gordon Dotson and Gene Dotson; and seven of her eight sisters, Vera Galliard, Ona Fleming, Audrey Dodd, Bernice Whaley Potts, Billie Ellis, Reba Freeman, and Capitola Brunk.

Survivors include two children, Linda Kay (Evans) Scott and husband, Mike, of Texhoma, OK; Don Evans and wife, Connie, of Lubbock, TX; a sister, LaNelle Pearson of Balko, OK.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Angie (Evans) Gildea and husband Russ Mahan of Houston, TX; Micah Scott of Castle Rock, CO; Lynn Scott and wife Mindi of Dumas, TX; Shawn Evans and wife Leigh of Austin, TX; Wesley Scott and wife Crystal of Pottsboro, TX; Aaron Evans and wife Trudy of Levelland, TX; and Nick Evans and wife Lacey of Bedford, TX.  In addition, she is survived by 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will gather for visitation on Friday evening, April 22nd from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Henson-Novak Funeral Home in Texhoma.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday afternoon, April 23rd at 2:00 pm at the Texhoma United Methodist Church with Rev. David Jenkins officiating.  Internment will follow at the Texhoma Cemetery.
