Loretta Farabee

 Helen Loretta Harland Farabee, Age 77, passed away March 24, 2021 in Oklahoma City. She was born on June 3, 1943 to Edward and Janie Harland on the homestead in Texhoma, which she dearly loved and moved back in 1983 and lived there with her mother and family until her death. She was the fifth of eight children and enjoyed the joys and frustrations of a large family

Loretta married Richard Farabee on November 24, 1961, Goodwill, Oklahoma. By the time Loretta was 24 years old, she was the proud mother of 4 children: Elizabeth June, Lynn and the twins Mark and Matt. She worked alongside Richard driving a water or silage truck and whatever was needed to be done. In 1980 the opportunity arose to become a substitute rural route carrier. She soon became the contract rural route carrier, then postal clerk and finally Postmaster of the Goodwill Post Office in 1995. She retired from the post office in 2005.

Loretta was an active member of the Church of Christ in Texhoma, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Texhoma Historical Society and served as president. In the last few years, she also enjoyed working on the election board.

Loretta loved to travel and took many trips with her mother, sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews or any one else who would go with her. She often talked of all the trips but two notable trips were the trip to Alaska with her husband celebrating her 60th birthday and their trip to Australia to visit Mark in 2014.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, son Mark and one brother Edward Lee Harland.

She is survived by three brothers, Ernest Harland and wife Bonnie, Ken Harland and wife Carmen, Fred Harland and wife Claudia; three sisters, Janelle Eggleston, Loraine Baird and husband Jim and Kathy Melton and husband Jerry; three children, Elizabeth June Stovall and husband Larry, Lynn Haden and husband Billy, Matt Farabee and wife Leslie and daughter-in-law Roni Farabee; 9 grandchildren, Sadie (Hunter) Anderson, Jessie (Justus) Burk, Mason (Gini) Farabee, Cami Haden, Liddie Farabee, Clayton Farabee, Roy Haden, Lauren Farabee, and Sally Robinson; and three great grandchildren, Kaleb, Lizzie and Autumn; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials can be donated to the Texhoma Church of Christ or the Texhoma Historical Society and Museum.

Visitation & Funeral Service Details

Visitation for Loretta will be held on Friday March, 26th, 2021 at The Church of Christ in Texhoma, Oklahoma from 4:00 P.M till 6:00 P.M with the family present

Funeral Services for Loretta will be held on Saturday March 27th, 2021 at The Church of Christ in Texhoma, Oklahoma at 2:00 P.M

Interment will follow after Funeral Service at Texhoma Cemetery.
