Kirby Owen Marr, son of Chester I and Fern L Biltoft Marr, was born August 1, 1953 and departed this life on January 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Hough, Oklahoma. Kirby was united in marriage to Leann Feistner on February 16th, 1974 at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior, Nebraska. To this union 4 daughters were born: Kim, Jody, Julie and Melissa.
Kirby’s hobbies included gardening, tinkering in his shop, working in the yard and his horses. He made the world’s best egg salad and enjoyed catering to his grandkids, from sneaking an extra ice cream bar in, taking them to feed the horse watermelon rinds, pushing them on the swing, setting up the pool (even if it was just for one day), slipping them some cash, and teaching them to drive the mule with patience and a calm demeanor. They thought the world of him, as did his girls. Whenever someone would say something about having a house full of girls, he would reply with “God knew what he was doing when he gave me girls”. He was a very patient and laid back man. He enjoyed playing washers, dominos and a good game of cards. Kirby was an active member and served in many capacities at Morning Star UMC in Hough.
Kirby was employed by Collingwood/ADM Grain for over 35 years, retiring the summer of 2019. During his many years of employment, he met and made a lot of lifetime friends.
Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, Chet and Fern Marr of Oak, Nebraska and his sister Kathy. He is survived by his wife, Leann; daughters Kim and husband Roger; Jody and husband Todd; Julie and husband Marcus; and Melissa. Survivors also include two brothers; Doug and wife Cheryl, Wes Marr and grandchildren; Karisa Ramos and husband Andy, Chase Duncan, Aspen Valliquette, Rachel Jamieson, Aubrie Jamieson, Kadyn, Kambri and Kynlee Liedtke and 3 great grandchildren; Jacob, Ella and Rowan. Along with a number of nieces and nephews. Always by his side, his faithful companion Festus.
A memorial service will be held at Morning Star UMC in Hough on February 13 at 2 PM. The family requests that masks be worn.
Livestream will be available on the Henson-Novak Funeral Directors Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be given to Morning Star UMC or Panhandle Partners in Guymon, Oklahoma.
The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this time. Kirby fought a hard fight and God has welcomed him home.
