Kay White Obituary

Glenda Kay White, “Kay,” was born on January 1st, 1940, in Clayton, New Mexico, and was the first born daughter of Fite and Dorothy Combs. She passed away on November 21, 2023, in Boise City, Oklahoma, at the age of 83.

Kay was raised in Boise City along with her two sisters, Charlene and Sandra. “The Combs Girls,” as they were known, were quite the trio through their entire lives bringing laughter, joy, orneriness, and kindness to so many.

Kay graduated from Boise City High School in 1958, and  enjoyed basketball, friends, and being a drum majorette while in high school.

After high school, she worked at Combs Lumber Company until she caught the eye of Cliff White, a new Oklahoma Highway Patrolman sent to the panhandle. The two were married on Christmas Day in 1959. To this union were born Robin and Troy, two incredibly blessed children to have such wonderful parents.

Her selfless character was never more clear than when she served her family by being a stay at home mom and wife cooking three meals a day, cleaning, counseling, being a taxi, and creating an atmosphere of peace and love in our home that always made us look forward to coming home. Kay loved serving her family, serving her church, and serving anyone in need. She lived for the things that mattered, and in doing so, she has left an enduring legacy to her children, grandchildren, and all those who loved her.

Proverbs 31 teaches us, “An excellent wife, who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fite and Dorothy Combs and sister, Charlene (Sheen) Steiner.

Kay is survived by Cliff, her husband of 64 years, daughter Robin Cox and husband Derek of Fairview, OK, son Troy White of Boise City, four grandchildren, Kanon Collins and husband Chad, Kolby White and wife Emma, Emily Cox, and Kellen Cox, and three great grandchildren, Tylee and Cai Collins and Tate White. She is also survived by one sister, Sandra Baird and husband Johnie of Boise City and a precious host of extended family.
