Juanita Couch

Juanita Couch, 88-year-old Elkhart, Kansas resident passed away surrounded by her loving family at her residence.

Juanita Louise Vigare was born April 5, 1934, in Westphalia, Kansas to Felix and Philomina (Youngworth) Vigare.

She attended St. Mary’s School in Wichita, Kansas graduating with the class of 1952. After high school she went on to attend college at St. Francis in Wichita where she earned her registered nursing degree.

On September 8, 1956, she was united in marriage to Robert Couch at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Wichita, Kansas.

Juanita worked as a nurse at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, Bergen Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas and Hamilton County Hospital in Syracuse, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Arthur and John Vigare and one sister Mary Ann Norris.

Left to carry on her legacy is her husband of 66 years Robert of the home, two daughters Shawn Fraser and husband Ron of Elkhart, Kansas, Shannon Couch of Elkhart, Kansas, two sons Michael Couch and wife Leslie of Amarillo, Texas and Christopher Couch and wife Judy of Amarillo, Texas, nine grandchildren, twenty- one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2022, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Elkhart, Kansas.

Memorial funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Elkhart, Kansas.
