Joseph Ramirez Obituary

Joseph Louis “Louie” Ramirez, 78, longtime Guymon businessman and restaurant owner, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Heritage Community, Guymon, Oklahoma.

The son of Albina (Macias) and Jack Ramirez, Joseph Louis was born August 27, 1940 in Canadian, Texas.  The Ramirez family lived in Hereford, Texas, where Louie graduated from high school with the Class of 1959.  He moved to Guymon in 1962 and began working in construction.  He was united in marriage to Judy Whipple on September 29, 1968 in Clayton, New Mexico.  Louie owned and built several restaurants in the area.  He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. 

Louis is survived by his wife, Judy Ramirez of Guymon; three sons, Todd Martens of Austin, Texas; Bret Ramirez and wife, Denise of Woodward, Oklahoma; and Clay Ramirez of Eagle Nest, New Mexico; sister, Elizabeth Torres, and brother, Tony Ramirez and wife, Lillie, of Guymon.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, Morgan Martens, Madison Gonzalez and husband, Dylan, Joseph, Natalie, Bailey and Emily Ramirez. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Martin Ramirez and Oscar Ramirez, and two sister, Rachel Sedillo and Ophelia Perales.   

Viewing will be Wednesday, March 13th, 12 noon to 8:00PM.  The Recitation of Rosary will be Wednesday evening, 7:00 PM at the Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel, 501 NW Fifth Street, Guymon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday morning, March 14th, 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1220 N Quinn, Guymon with Father John Paul Lewis, officiating.
