Joanna Bowers

Joanna (Waynette) Bowers, 57 year old Rolla, Kansas resident passed away at her residence on August 25th, 2020.

Waynette was born January 17th, 1963 in Borger, Texas to Robert Hawley and Joan Johnson.  On April 12, 1979 she was united in marriage to Curtis W. Bowers and they were blessed with four children Kimberly, Melissa, Darcy and Curtis.

Waynette loved nature and the outdoors. The family had many great times with friends camping, going on hikes, gazing at the moon and enjoying the beauty of nature. She really loved the holidays. She liked decorating for every season and enjoyed cooking and passing on the traditions and recipes with her children and grandchildren. She really enjoyed yardwork. She loved sitting on her back porch and listening to the birds and watching her grandchildren play. As a young adult she was very involved in coaching and supporting events of her own family and the community children. She was a mother to every child she met. She was also very passionate about Oklahoma State University sports. She had great love for music of all kinds. The family could spend hours listening and singing to music together. She truly cared about others. She spent a great deal of her time helping others whether it be physically doing things for them or just being a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear or a person to bring out smiles and laughter. She knew no stranger. God was a part of her life and made sure to instill that into the lives of others.

Waynette is preceded in death by her mother Joan Hawley, her stepmother Margret Hawley and her brother Waide Hawley.

She is survived by her father Robert Hawley, her loving husband Curtis Wayne Bowers and by their children Kimberly Bowers, Melissa Lewis, Darcy Higginbotham and Curtis Nolan Bowers, also by her brother Randal Hawley, an adopted brother Jeramy Hawley and stepsister Becky Scoggin . She leaves behind ten grandchildren Jasmine Bevel, Grace Miller, Ira Garcia, Leslie Lewis, Quinn Lewis, Nola Higginbotham, Asa Higginbotham, Ethan Bowers, Isabella Bowers and Jericko Bowers, along with one great-grandchild Nevaeh K’anne.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 29th, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Rolla School Auditorium.
