Jean Zabel, 94, of Guymon, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday morning, March 25, 2021. Jean was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives. She was born on June 1, 1926, in Texas County, to Forrest and Leila Pickard. She attended Guymon schools and graduated from Guymon High School in 1944. Jean married Clarence Zabel on September 8, 1946. They were married for 69 years.
Jean was an active member of the Foursquare Church, Sunday School secretary and the woman’s group president for many years. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed homemaking, sewing, cooking and baking. Her pecan pies won many ribbons at the Texas County Fair and was often the Grand Prize Winner. She also enjoyed traveling with Clarence to south Texas for the winter in their RV trailer and traveling all around the United States and Canada. Jean was very honored to be named the Pioneer Day Queen for 2020/2021. She would have enjoyed all the activities and sharing her family history with the community. Pioneer Day was always a special time for Jean and her family.
Jean loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus, with all her heart, and she loved God’s Word. Her family is comforted knowing that she is now again with Clarence, her parents, sisters and many of her dear friends, along with her Lord and Savior. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence Zabel, and two sisters, Lois Demetro, and baby Alice, brothers-in-law, Paul Ritchie and Bob Boston.
