Gerald TeBeest Obituary

Gerald TeBeest, 83-year-old Gruver, Texas resident passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Hansford County Hospital in Spearman, Texas.

Gerald Dean TeBeest was born May 14, 1938, in Guymon, Oklahoma to Reuben and Jennie (Kallemyn) Tebeest.  He attended Gruver, Texas school systems graduating with the class of 1956.  After high school he attended Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma graduating with a B.S. in education.  Gerald was a lifelong Texas panhandle resident. He taught history, government, economics, business and typing at both Gruver, Texas and Guymon, Oklahoma school systems.

Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 through 1964. 

On August 13, 1965, Gerald was united in marriage to Sandy Trent at Bethel Baptist Church in Hardesty, Oklahoma.

He was a member of Gruver United Methodist Church for several years. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing pinochle and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother DeWayne TeBeest.

Left to carry on Geralds legacy is his wife Sandy of the home, one daughter;  Cheryl Powell and husband Brad of Dumas, Texas, two grandsons: Zach Powell and girlfriend Kylie Pickens of Lubbock, Texas and Blake Powell and Sarah Ballard of Amarillo, Texas. He is also survived by many cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. till 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Gruver United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Gruver United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Chappell officiating.

Interment will follow in Gruver City Cemetery.
