Gaylon Eugene Mendenhall

Gaylon Eugene “E” Mendenhall, 89, of Guymon, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, February 25th, 2020 at Memorial Hospital Texas County in Guymon, Oklahoma. Gaylon was born Monday, June 9th, 1930 in Utica, Kansas to Dale (Louis) Mendenhall and Anna Hockinson. He attended school in Utica for 12 years and graduated Utica High School in 1948. He then went on to Panhandle A & M graduating in 1953. He served in Army Intelligence for 2 years before moving to Denver, Colorado to attend school. He then became a teacher and a Basketball Coach.

Gaylon was united in marriage on August 21st, 1953 to Darlene Winter in Dodge City, Kansas. They had two children together Mark and Micha Mendenhall.

His hobbies included playing golf and spending time with his grandkids, great grandkids, and entire family. He also enjoyed working on his yard.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Dale and Anna Mendenhall. Brothers & Sisters – Dewey, Hollis, Sandra and Gwen.

Gaylon is survived by his wife of 66 years Darlene Mendenhall of Guymon, Oklahoma. His son Mark Mendenhall and wife Karen of Shawnee, Oklahoma. His daughter Micha and husband Jay Sale of Bethany, Oklahoma. Survivors also include his siblings one brother - Lonnie Mendenhall, three sisters – Lorena Kellogg, Kathryn Bassinger and Jeanetta Scego.

He is survived by three grandchildren - Sam & Michelle Mendenhall, Ashley Mendenhall and Harland & Sabrina Sale. Seven great-grandchildren – Boomer Mendenhall, Axel Mendenhall, Brice Martinez, Hunter Martinez, Mikayla Sale, Jozzlynne Sale and Zoë Sale. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday , February 28, 2020 12:00 noon till 7:00 P.M. at Henson-Novak Funeral Directors in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Funeral Services for Gaylon will be held on Saturday, February 29th, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Guymon, Oklahoma.
