“78 year old Guymon resident Gary Cobb passed away peacefully at home May 30, 2021 surrounded by loved ones.
Gary Lee Cobb was born February 7, 1943 to Vera Jean Sorenson and John Quint (Junior) Cobb. They moved to Guymon in 1957, where Gary later graduated from Guymon High School in 1960.
He married Doris Darlene Trent April 22, 1962 in Guymon’s St. Stephens Episcopalian church. They raised 2 boys, Garett Tate and Brandon Tucker. Gary was a life-long rancher on the Cobb-Frank ranch. He was also an order-buyer for local ranchers, and a general manager of the Guymon Livestock Auction. He had an eye for good horses as well as good cattle. He partnered with David Long and operated a grow yard west of Guymon; the Cobb & Long partnership continues today with a cow-calf operation.
Gary was a member of Guymon’s St. Stephens Episcopalian Church, the Elks Lodge, and the USTRC. He served on the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo committee. Gary enjoyed many things in life, including team roping, golf, fishing, dancing, playing gin, and watching his grandchildren perform at countless sporting events.
After a long battle with dementia, Gary went home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by grandparents CA and Fern Frank, and parents Junior Cobb and Jean Sorenson. He is also preceded in death by his in-laws; Doris’s parents: Harold and Dorothy Trent
Survivors include wife Doris Darlene Cobb, children Tate and Marsha Cobb and Tucker and Stacey Cobb, grandchildren Jacy and Adam Post, Chaz and Myca Cobb, Cheyenne Cobb, Billy and Kali Roach, Zach Roach, Bailey and Ethan Sharpe, and Ty Cobb, great grandchildren Nathan and Leo Post, Hattie Cobb, Brantly Trent Cobb, Nolan and Demi Roach, and Baylor Roach, and sisters Barbara Heaton and Teresa Cobb. Sisters - in law: Lillie Green, Betty Cruzan and husband Melvin. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and host of friends
Memorial services are to be held on Saturday June 5, 2021 at 4:00 P.M at The Henson~Novak Funeral Chapel in Guymon, Oklahoma with Bill Newman and Rev. Odie Nunley presiding.
