Edwin Eugene Dotson

Edwin Eugene (Gene) Dotson, 83 year old resident of Fritch, Texas passed away Saturday, February 29th, 2020 at Heritage Convalescence in Amarillo, Texas.

Gene was born on May 11th, 1936 on the homestead to his mother, Mary McCormick and his father Henry Nicholas Shaw Dotson. He was raised in Texhoma and attended Texhoma Public Schools graduating with the class of 1954. Shortly after finishing school he joined the Marine Corps to serve his country from 1955 – 1959.

He married Mary Elizabeth Goodrich in 1959 to 1972 and had two daughters, Becky and Tiffany. In 1973 he married Barbara Lee Schuermann, who passed away in 1990 and to them had one daughter, Tracy. Gene married Lynda (Parker) on June 10th, 2000 in Hereford, Texas. He was a Deputy Sheriff for Texas County and after that he worked for the Norman Police Dept. After many years of being a Deputy Sheriff, Gene was engaged in oil field work as a roustabout.

His hobbies included competition shooting, gardening, playing cards, spending time with his family and having cookouts with his family and friends.

Gene is proceeded in death by his parents, Shaw and Mary Dotson. His sisters – Vera, Ona, Bernice, Audrey, Reba, Capy, Billie and a brother Gordon.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years Lynda Parker Dotson of the home. Three daughters – Becky Bell-Linke and husband Kenny of Amarillo, Texas, Tiffany Denton and husband Jeff of Amarillo, Texas and Tracy Price and husband Rob of Edmond, Oklahoma. Three grandchildren – Lauren Stanley and husband Clairmont, Austin Denton and Ryan Denton. Survivors also include Gene’s sisters, Louise Evans of Texhoma and LaNell Pearson of Laverne.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 at Henson-Novak Chapel 709 South First Street Texhoma, Texas.

Funeral Services for Gene will conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 5th, 2020 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Matt Maples officiating.

Interment will follow at the Texhoma Cemetery.
