Dow King Obituary

Clarence Dow King was born to George S. & Laura Edith King on March 24, 1940 in Dumas, Texas, the youngest of 4 sons & the only son born in a hospital. He attended school in Goodwell, Oklahoma. He was employed by OPSU.

Dow could always be found fishing somewhere, usually locally at Sunset Lake or Straight Lake. He served on the board of Straight Lake Rod & Reel Club for many years and loved assisting with the annual fishing derbies, which he shared with his 2 sons & several grandsons. Dow had a love of family, especially reunions, and anytime family was together. Many hours were spent with family & close friends drinking coffee & giving advice around his table on his backyard patio. He enjoyed gardening & shared his bounty with family, friends & neighbors, who often made Salsa from his peppers & gave him jars. He was often found at the cemetery lovingly mowing the 5 family sections he cared for. 1 section separately & each of 9 graves had its own carefully chosen Rosebush, different colors.

Dow is preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life for 55 years Delilah Faye (Carter) King, 2 brothers Richard King & George Wifred King, a grandson Zane Dow King.

He is survived by 2 sons: Mike King & wife Roxanne of Holyoke Colorado, Patrick King of Amarillo Texas, Grandchildren: Mitch & Jessica Egger of Guymon, Brent Egger & Jamie Patrick of Guthrie Center, Iowa, Colton King & Cytorie Clark of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Jaymes King & Isaiah King of Amarillo, Texas, A very special family friend whom he loved like a son, Kenneth Coulson & wife Michele of Guymon. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews, and 1 brother Fountain Lee King of Hudson, Florida.

There will be a private family inurnment & a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
