Cheryle Diane Clayton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at the age of sixty-six at the Heritage Community Nursing Home in Guymon, Oklahoma.
She was born April 17, 1955, in Portales, New Mexico; the daughter of Ludene Terry Collins and Bobbie Collins.
She attended high school in Portales and soon after gave birth to her son, Jesse Wade Gilbert. They moved to Amarillo, Texas where she met and married Randy Clayton.
Later in years Diane made several relocations eventually landing at Ruidoso, New Mexico where her fondest memories were made working at the Inn of the Mountain Gods and working in her yard at her home in the mountains.
Her last years were spent in Guymon, OK where she resided at the Heritage Community Home.
There she was able to enjoy her time playing cards, working word puzzles, reading, and spending time on the outdoor patio. Her passion for butterflies and the color purple will be remembered by all close to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her son, Jesse Gilbert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and her siblings, Terry Collins and wife Barbara of Frederick, Oklahoma; James Williams and wife Vonita of Amarillo, Texas; Barbara Baker of Roswell, New Mexico and Beverly Frank of Guymon, Oklahoma.
Her memory is treasured by her family including numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Oklahoma Lane United Methodist Church at Farwell, Texas on April 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
