Deane Jerold (J.D.) Martin

Deane Jerold Martin, known by those who knew him as J.D., passed from this earth  at the age of 86 on Friday, July 12th, 2019 at the Beaver County Nursing Home, Beaver, Oklahoma.

He was born on October 2, 1932 in Fairview Oklahoma, the only son of three children, to Gene and Roma Martin.  J.D. served his country 8 years in the United States Navy from 1952 – 1960, sailing the seas and landing in many ports, on the USS Orca, USS Talladega, and the USS LaMoure County.  He was awarded five medals for his service.

In 1962, J.D. started working for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in Boise City, Oklahoma, and worked there for 24 years.  In 1986, he accepted the supervisor position in Fairview, Oklahoma and worked there until his retirement in 1991.

He is survived by his 3 children, five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren;  Marty Martin and wife, Lori of Wamego, Kansas, their two sons, Keagan of Poway, California and Jarrred and his wife, Blake and their three children, Amelia, Jordon and Jackson, all of Argyle, Texas; Ronnie Martin and his wife, Denise of Beaver, Oklahoma and their son, Gunhar of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Tammy Martin James and her husband, Brad, of Boise City, and their two sons, Josh and his wife, Stacy of Stillwater, Adam and his wife, Stevi  and their daughter, Liv of Boise City.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Margaret, his two sisters, Freda Tevebaugh and Sue Hunt, and one infant grandson, Jade Martin.

Public graveside services will be Saturday, July 20th, 10:00 AM, at Boise City Cemetery with Rev. Trevor Bulls, pastor of First Baptist Church, Boise City, officiating.  United States Navy will conduct military honors.  Cremation and arrangements are entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Boise City, Oklahoma.
