David Stanhope

David Stanhope, 64-year-old former Texhoma, Oklahoma resident, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton, Kansas. 

David Clarence Stanhope was born January 14, 1958, in Guymon, Oklahoma to William and Una (Chapman) Stanhope.  David attended Texhoma Public Schools graduating with the class of 1976. He attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University where he obtained his degree in Criminal Justice.

He worked as a police officer and police chief in many panhandle communities.

In 1987 David was united in marriage with Janet Hughes.

David enjoyed doing leatherwork, Anything Star Wars related, reading, bird watching and television programs that were law enforcement related. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Billy Dean Stanhope.

David is survived by his wife Janet of Rolla, Kansas, three daughters: Lanor Hughes of Boise City, Oklahoma, Melissa Stanhope and Dakota Sharp of Amarillo, Texas and Bobbie Stanhope and Coty Cooper of Colorado Springs, Colorado, one sister Tanya Stanhope of Hugoton, Kansas, eleven grandchildren: Xander, Legion, Mikkalai, Jazmyn, Bryan, Alexavier, Larry, Bianca, Fabian, Melanie, and Shelby. He also leaves behind a host of friends and many members of the law enforcement communities.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday November 14, 2022, at River of Life Church at 409 East 9th Street in Hugoton, Kansas with Steve Hittle officiating.

Graveside funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2022 at The Boise City Cemetery in Boise City, Oklahoma with Jean King officiating.
