Daryl McDaniel Obituary

Daryl Gene McDaniel, 71, of Felt, Oklahoma passed away March 14, 2020 at Purcell Municipal Hospital.

Daryl was born April 19, 1948 in Clayton, New Mexico, the third child and only son of Robert and Evolena Burrow McDaniel. He attended Felt school and graduated from Felt High School with the Class of 1966. He then attended Denver College for Electrical Engineering. He worked for Master Charge as a fraud investigator.

He then moved to Oakland California where he entered the Oakland Police Academy. Daryl graduated with honors and served for ten years on the Oakland Police Department. In October 1974, Daryl was awarded the Medal of Valor for heroic action, above and beyond the call of duty. During this time, he met and married Karen Machado on June 23, 1973. She passed away on July 17, 1998.

Daryl moved his family back  to Felt in July 1981, where he began farming and ranching with his dad.

On April 17, 1999 he was united in marriage to Pam Bogart. They made Felt their home.

He served as the temporary Sheriff of Cimarron County, served on the Cimarron EMT board and was the Fire Chief of the Felt Fire Department which he helped to organize. 

Daryl was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dalhart, Texas and belonged to the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Karen; brother in law, Jere Hughes and two great grandchildren, Nikol Edwards and Zaydek James.

He is survived by his wife, Pam of the home; one son, Terry & Nichole Bogart of Seminole, Oklahoma; six daughters, Marit & Darrell Edwards of Guymon, Oklahoma, Andrea & Nic Filz of Fruita, Colorado, Bree & Mark Carlson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Arlaina & Nick Utley of Lakewood, Colorado, Loren & John Russell of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Christina Bogart of Yukon, Oklahoma; three sisters, Roberta & Bill Boydstun of Felt, Oklahoma, Verlene Hughes of Boise City, Oklahoma, Anita & Steve Reed of Liberal, Kansas; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Felt Fire Department and may be left at Henson-Novak, Box 1306, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.

Visitation will be at 12 noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Henson-Novak Boise City in Boise City, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the Felt United Methodist Church in Felt, Oklahoma with Jerry Rice officiating. Interment will be in the Bertrand Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors in Boise City, Oklahoma.
