Charles Chapman Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Chapman 84-year-old longtime Guymon resident passed away Thursday morning, March 23rd, 2023 at Moore County Hospital in Dumas, Texas.

Charles Lee Chapman was born on July 25th, 1938, in Grainfield, Kansas to Floyd and Bethel (Boyd) Chapman. Chuck attended the Hoxie, Kansas school system graduating with the class of 1956.  Upon graduating, Chuck went to Ft. Hays State University where he obtained his teaching degree in English. Following college, he coached football and wrestling and he later went on to be an entrepreneur.

On June 19th, 1961, Chuck was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Hayes in Raton, New Mexico.

Chuck was a member of the Victory Memorial Methodist Church and was also a member of The Guymon Elks Club.

He was a successful businessman, farmer, and rancher for most of his life, but he especially loved building a home with his wife and three daughters.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 61 years; Patricia in 2021, his daughter Kari in 1967, his parents; Floyd and Bethel Boyd and his two sisters; Shirley Negley and Lola Shurden.

Chuck is survived by his two daughters: Carmen Willis and husband Mike of Magnolia, Texas and Kristy Lehr and husband Shawn of Stratford, Texas. Three brothers Don, David and Jr. Chapman, and one sister; Lois Kemper He is also survived by special friends; Donna Wright and The Ricky Santillan Family.

He is survived also by his five grandchildren: Morghin Thrasher, Ryle White and wife Annie, Avery Davis, Ethan Davis and Rhidge Phillippe, His six great-grandchildren: Rhylie & Rhaymie Guthrie, Stetson Thrasher & Stoney Thrasher and Rankyn White & Renley White.

Chuck is survived by many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Visitation for Chuck will be held on Sunday afternoon March 26th, 2023, from 2 p.m. till 4.p.m.  at Henson Novak Funeral Home in Guymon.

Funeral Services will be conducted Monday afternoon March 27th, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. at Victory Memorial Methodist Church with Pastor David Player officiating.

Interment to follow after funeral service.

Memorial Donations may be made in Chuck’s name to Victory Memorial Methodist Church of Guymon C/O Henson Novak Funeral Directors P.O. Box 1306.
