CJ Mouser, 89, longtime Hooker, Oklahoma farmer and rancher, passed away Saturday evening, October 13, 2018 at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal, Kansas.
The son of pioneer family, Esther (Kraft) and Leroy Mouser, CJ was born November 11, 1928 at the Mouser farm home west of Hooker. CJ graduated from Hooker High School in 1947 and joined the United States Navy, where he spent five years as a Yeoman Seaman. CJ was united in marriage to Lenora Russell on July 3, 1954 in Hooker. The Mousers lived and operated the Garden City Ice Company for many years before returning to Hooker in 1975. He was a member of First Baptist Church, American Legion and had served as a Trustee on the Tri-County Electric Co-op for more than 30 years. CJ was a cowboy, cattleman and farmer. He loved team penning, sorting and dancing as well as his community and family.
CJ is survived by two daughters, Louaine Knoll and husband, Harold of Garden City, Kansas; Brenda Scott and husband, Donny of Hooker; son, Sparky Mouser and wife, Ruby of Tulsa, OK; eight grandchildren, Ben, Matt, Jonathan, Nicole, Amber, Molly, Josh and Gabe, and nineteen great grandchildren.
CJ was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora, who passed away in 2013; four brothers, Marion, Cleo, Leo and Harlan Mouser; sister, Letha Davis and a great granddaughter, Adryon Michelle Knoll.
Viewing will be Wednesday, October 17th, 12:00 noon to 7:00 PM at the Henson-Novak Funeral Home, 501 NW Fifth Street, Guymon.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning, 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 609 W Panhandle, Hooker with Pastor Mike McReynolds, officiating. Private graveside services will be in Hooker Cemetery.
