Burnetha Gibson Jackson, 96-year-old Amarillo, Texas resident, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Plum Creek Place in Amarillo, Texas.
Burnetha Faye Martin was born October 9th, 1925, outside of Hooker, Oklahoma to Chester Edsel and Lura Delorous (Graves) Martin.
She attended Hardesty Public Schools graduating with the class of 1944.
In May of 1946 she was united in marriage to H. Leon Gibson. They lived just east of Hardesty, Oklahoma on Paradise Valley Ranch. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1973.
She was united in marriage to Harold Jackson in 1975 and they resided on a small farm in the Balko community. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Burnetha was a homemaker and loved helping others.
Burnetha loved to travel, especially camping. She also liked working on word search puzzles, making crocheted potholders, embroidering, gardening, raising cattle and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one granddaughter- Natalie Gibson, three step-sons- Stanley Jackson, Danny Jackson, and Charles Jackson, five sisters- Lucille Quesenberry, Nellie Stump, Maxine Smart, Louise Bennett and Phyllis Martin, brothers- Edsel Martin, and two baby brothers Donald Martin and Melvin Martin.
Burnetha is survived by three sons- Gerald Gibson and wife Staci of Grand Lake, Oklahoma, Dennis Gibson and wife Della of Hardesty, Oklahoma and Bennie Gibson and wife Tiffiney of Amarillo, Texas; one stepson Grant D. Jackson and wife Corline of Billings, Montana; three stepdaughters in law- Lesta, Ruth, and Maryanne, sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-Grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren with two on the way.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 6, 2022, at Balko Baptist Church with Brother Troy Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
