Alton Turner Obituary

Alton Woode Turner passed away November 30th, 2023 peacefully in his home with his family by his side at the age of 69. He was born June 11th 1954 to Fern B. Reed Aycock and Harold Turner in Canon City, Colorado.

Alton attended Boise City public schools into high school and then decided to join the work force before graduating. He worked several jobs that consisted of oilfield, mechanic and auto repair work before deciding to attend Okmulgee Tech in the Autobody Repair program. He eventually returned home before finishing school after realizing he already knew everything they had to teach him. He then started his own business known as Alton’s Body Shop, which he ran for over 40 years. There was a time he took a break from his body shop to take a job of a lifetime with Gilbert fiberoptic. This job allowed him to travel to many different places and his family was able to take vacations and visit him wherever he was stationed.

Alton and Beth were united in marriage on April 21st, 1984 to this union they had 3 children, Aaron Blaine, Levi Quinn, and Kelsey Lee.

Alton found joy in many things, some include his family (especially his granddaughter – Karver), his work, his Doberman dogs, guns, motorcycles, food, cooking, making hot sauce, and fast cars but only if they were Chevrolet’s. He had wanted to take a trip to Sturgis on his motorcycle for many years and finally was able to go in 2006.

Alton was the kind of guy that once you met him, you never forgot him. Everywhere he went he was the life of the party and was always making people laugh, he also had a loving, kind heart.

He was always willing to help someone passing through if they were in a bind, whether it be with transportation or a small job for some fast cash to get them by.

They say it takes a village to raise a child and Alton was blessed with many people who cared for him while growing up. Many of the great things we knew and loved about Alton are thanks to people like Bell and Bernie Sizemore, Gene and Dot Sizemore, Nina and Virgil James, and Bill and Barbara James.

Alton loved to eat so he learned to be a good cook. He was known to have a big appetite. He really loved his pepper, so if you’ve ever eaten out at a restaurant and found a large hole in the pepper shaker, odds are, that was Alton. Dairy Queen used to keep a set behind the counter so he would stop putting holes in all the shakers. At home, he always had two full plates of food and then say, “That was a good snack, what’s for supper?” which would drive Beth nuts. He would often get up in the middle of the night and make a WHOLE MEAL. Alton and Kelsey would sit at the table for their own meal around 3:00 AM. He loved to go to the weekly chicken day in Keyes where they gave him an “Alton size platter” to fill up with food.

Alton is preceded in death by his parents Fern B. Aycock and Harold Turner, infant son Levi Quinn Turner, Father and Mother In-Law John and Velma Twyman.
Alton is survived by his wife Beth Turner, son Aaron Turner, daughter Kelsey and husband Jared Loftis of Guymon Oklahoma, granddaughter Karver Loftis of Guymon Oklahoma, brother Everett (Rusty) Turner, sisters DeVonna Flynn, Sabra Burgardt, and Teresa Haygood-Byerly, many Aunts, Uncles and host of many other family and friends.
