Alejo Ortega

Alejo Ortega, lovingly known as "Dad" by his children, passed away on December 27, 2025. Born on September 24, 1973, in Acámbaro, Guanajuato, Mexico, Alejo was a devoted husband, father, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate to know him.

Alejo was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and took great pride in his job at Texhoma ISD as the Maintenance/Bus Director. He had a genuine love for all children and was always involved in his children's school events and in the Texhoma community. Alejo also had a great love for horses.

He is proceeded in death by his mother: Abigail Ortega, grandmother-in-law, Phyllis Coryell, nephew, Edwin Martinez, and best friend, Terry Peterson.

He is survived by the love of his life of over 23 years; Jennifer Johnson; their children: Hannah Goetze and Joseph; daughter: Abigail Ortega; daughter: Hermelinda Ortega; son: Joshua Ortega and Fiancé Kylee Bryant. One sister: America Martinez and husband Armando; two brothers, Sam and wife Michelle Ortega and Lole Ortega and wife Mary Jo. He is also survived by one grandchild: Carter Ortega and his parents: Samuel Ortega. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and several friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Henson~Novak Funeral Chapel in Texhoma, Texas.

Rosary Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2025, at 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Henson~Novak Funeral Chapel in Texhoma, Texas.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Joseph Schwarz officiating. Interment will follow at Texhoma Cemetery.
