Guymon, Oklahoma – Gene Kottke, 87, longtime Guymon resident, passed away early Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at his home.
William Eugene (Gene) Kottke was born October 13, 1930 to John and Nettie (Mattox) Kottke of Earlsboro, Oklahoma. He attended school at Earlsboro schools and Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, graduating in 1951. Throughout school he was involved in 4H and FFA, winning many awards with his livestock projects. While Gene was in college, he met the love of his life, Deloris Jean Woodall. They were married in June of 1953. They celebrated 61 years of marriage and Jean passed away October 14, 2014. They raised their three children; Kendall (Ken) born in 1956, Rita born in 1958, and Lindell (Lin) born in 1961. Gene was most proud that all of his children graduated from college. He was a loving and caring husband and father. He had a quick wit and enjoyed a good joke. He enjoyed listening to the old country music legends. He was an intelligent man who thought for himself and wasn't influenced by other's opinions. Gene enjoyed good health throughout his life until this past year.
He is survived by his children; Ken and Cheryl Kottke of Guymon, Rita Kottke of Guthrie, OK, and Lin and Diane Kottke of Amarillo, TX, grandchildren; Ashton Keisling of Watonga, OK, Matthew Kottke of Yuma, AZ, Krista and Andrew Young of Canyon, TX and Carli Kottke of Oklahoma City, and three great grandchildren, Gunner and Rylee Lutonsky, and Everly Young. Gene is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Don and Pat Woodall of Shawnee, OK, along with numerous nieces and nephews and his special friend, Charlotte Cesarano of Guymon. Gene made many friends in his life and enjoyed spending time with them all.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents John F. and Nettie Kottke, and his little brother John Adam.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, August 2nd, 5:00-7:00 PM at Henson-Novak Funeral Home, 501 NW Fifth St, Guymon.
Funeral services will be Friday afternoon, August 3rd, 2:00 PM at the Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jack Peck, pastor of Purpose Church, Guymon, officiating.
Graveside services will be Monday morning, August 6th, 11:30 AM at Resthaven Cemetry, Shawnee, Oklahoma.
