Virginia M. Hall
Goodwell, Oklahoma – Virginia Hall, 94, passed away Christmas day, December 25, 2018 at Memorial Hospital of Texas County, Guymon, Oklahoma.
The daughter of Laura (Adams) and Howard Murphy, Virginia Dare Murphy was born June 13, 1924 in Independence, Kansas. Virginia graduated from East High School, Wichita, Kansas in 1941. Virginia met a young Ray Hall, while he was working for Beech Aircraft during War time. The young couple were married November 28, 1942 in Wichita. Following the War, the young couple made their home in Goodwell, where they farmed, were active in their community and church. Virginia raised her family while attending education classes at Panhandle State College, graduating in 1964. She then began her career in education, teaching at Goodwell for 17 years. Virginia was a member of the Sorosis Club, Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma and the American Association of University Women. She and Ray were longtime and active members of Panhandle Centenary United Methodist Church, where Virginia was a Bible School teacher for many years. The Halls celebrated 72 years of marriage and Ray passed away January 18, 2015.
Virginia is survived by a daughter, Sherryl Peterson and husband, Charles of Gunnison, Colorado; son, James Hall and wife, Alice of Goodwell; two sisters, Loretta Holtzman of Chanute, Kansas and Bonnie Glades and husband, Freddy of Bartlesville, OK; son-in-law, Dr. Larry Underwood of Arvada, Colorado. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Dr. Craig Peterson, Courtney Peterson Fullmer, Ashley Peterson Cook, Stacey Underwood Holzer, Eric Underwood and Robert Ray Hall and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Ginger Underwood, husband, two sisters, Irene Sever and Betty Montgomery, and brother, Charles Murphy.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 29th, 2:00 PM at Panhandle Centenary U. Methodist Church, Goodwell with Rev. David Jenkins, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery, Guymon.
Viewing will be Friday, 12:00 to 8:00 PM at Henson-Novak Funeral Home, 501 NW Fifth, Guymon.
