Tom Mains, 77, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 20, 2018 at the Heritage Community in Guymon, Oklahoma.
The son of Margaret (Hoak) and Jack T. Mains, Thomas Carl was born June 5, 1941 in Westmoreland City, Pennsylvania. The family moved to Oklahoma, where Tom was active in Boy Scouts, earning the level of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Okmulgee High School with the Class of 1959. Tom then graduated from the University of Tulsa with an accounting degree. He was united in marriage to Judith (Judy) Sturdevant on October 21, 1961 in Henryetta, Oklahoma.
Tom began his long career with Gulf Oil and later, Chevron Oil, being stationed in Cabinda Angola, South Africa for several years, before returning to the states and working in Houston, Texas. The family then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma with Chevron. After retiring from Chevron in 1997, Tom and Judy enjoyed their family, especially their three grandchildren. Tom and Judy moved from Tulsa to Guymon in 2000 to be near their son and his family.
Tom is survived by his wife, Judy Mains; his daughter, Jennifer Stubbs and husband, Greg, of Mexia, Texas; son, Tim Mains of Guymon and his three adored grandchildren, Regan Stubbs, Claire and Cash Mains.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Margaret Mains, one sister, JoAnn Deavers, and his mother and father-in-law, Clara Belle and William Jonas Sturdevant.
Cremation is entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon, Oklahoma. No services are scheduled.
