Roger Sublett

February 11, 1953 ~ September 24, 2018 (age 65)

Roger Sublett, 65, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Heritage Community.

The son of Evelyn (Covington) and Guss Sublett, Roger Leonard Sublett was born February 11, 1953 in Breckenridge, Texas.  Roger attended Breckenridge schools, graduating from Breckenridge High School and then attended Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas.  At Texas Tech, Roger earned an engineering degree.  Roger moved from Enid, Oklahoma to Guymon in 1993.  He had been working as a heavy equipment mechanic and owned and operated Roger’s Heavy Equipment and Repair.  He was united in marriage to Lavonne (Calsing) Smith on July 24, 2003 in Spearman, Texas.  Roger and Lavonne enjoyed many years of traveling, loving the mountains the very most.  Roger was a sportsman; loved camping, hunting, fishing, and shooting.  Roger and Lavonne had been attending Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Roger is survived by his wife, Lavonne Sublett; two daughters, Megan Jantz and husband, Jeff of Drummond, Oklahoma, Kayla Koch and husband, Mike of Enid, Oklahoma; step-son, Jeff Smith and wife, Kendra; his brother, Gary Sublett and wife, Dianne of Breckenridge, Texas; four grandchildren, Mason Jantz, Brayden, Hartlee and Stella Koch, three step-grandchildren, Kale, Lane, and Emily Smith, nephews, Bradley Sublett and wife, Molly, and Austin Sublett.  He was the adored “Papa Rog” to his God-sent bonus family, Travis McDowell and Katrina Sledge and their children, Roger and Lavonne’s bonus grandchildren, Aleksa, Konnor, and Kyhlan McDowell, Aubryn and Jaelyn Sledge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guss and Evelyn Sublett, and his son, Joshua Dean Sublett.

The family will receive friends for visitation and viewing on Thursday evening, 6:00-8:00 PM at Henson-Novak Funeral Home, 501 NW Fifth Street, Guymon.

Funeral services will be Friday morning, September 28th, 10:00 A.M. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 709 North Ellison, Guymon, with Pastor Van Heckle, officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.
