Nona Shackelford, 57, lifelong Elkhart area resident, passed away Wednesday evening, October 18, 2017 at Morton County Living Community after a tough battle with cancer.

The daughter of Jean Elvira (Copper) and Calvin Gene  Evins, she was born January 14, 1960 in Elkhart.  Nona  attended Yarborough schools and had worked as the purchasing clerk at Morton County Hospital for more than 30 years.  She loved her animals and family and so enjoyed watching her grankids play sports. 

Nona is survived by her partner, Jon Whisennand of Elkhart, Kansas; a son, Mitchell Shackelford of Colorado; sister, Rena Sanders and brother, Calvin Evins, both of Jay, Oklahoma; her step-daughter, Cassie and husband, Kelly Owens of Elkhart.  She was the adoring Mimi to her five grandchildren, Aubrey and Calvin Shackelford, Jonna Owens, Jonathan Owens and Averee Woodward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Rayburn Evins and one sister, Denise  May.

Graveside services will be Saturday afternoon, October 28th, 2:00 PM at the Elkhart Cemetery.  Services and cremation are entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.

The family has requested that memorials be given in lieu of flowers to Elkhart High School STUCO Pink Out to be used to assist local cancer patients.  Memorials may be sent to Ms. Terry Houtz at EHS or c/o Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, P.O. Box 1306, Guymon, OK  73942.
