Monte Ferrell

Texhoma, Texas – Monte Ferrell, 81 year old Texhoma resident, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

The son of Susan (Chambers) and Gordie Ferrell, Monte Ray was born October 2, 1936 in Burkburnett, Texas.   Monte attended Texhoma schools, graduating with the Class of 1955.  He then graduated from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, with a Mechanical Engineering Degree.  Monte served his country in the United States Army, serving in active service and in the U.S. Army Reserve.  He was united in marriage to Marilyn Bugner on August 22, 1959.  Monte and Marilyn lived in Artesia, New Mexico for several years.  Monte worked as a self-employed engineer before moving back to Texhoma.  He was a member of Texhoma United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, water skiing and loved to watch horse races and football. 

He is survived by his bride of 59 years, Marilyn Ferrell of the home in Texhoma; two daughters, Debbie Shoulders and husband, Rusty of Texhoma; Christi Shearman and husband, Mike of Artesia, NM; his brother, Rolland Ferrell of Claremore, OK; five grandchildren, Shannon Elliott, Amber Sledge, Tamara Adams, Candice Rodriguez and Shane Shearman; three step=grandchildren, Jason Shoulders, Jenna Anderson and Kade Shoulders; along with seven great grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren.

Monte was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Suzanne Freeman, a son, Stanley Ferrell and daughter, Carla Ferrell.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM till 8:00 PM at the Henson~Novak Funeral Home in Texhoma. Address is 733 south 1st street in Texhoma, Texas.

Graveside funeral services will be Friday afternoon, September 21st, 2:00 PM at Texhoma Cemetery with Rev. David Jenkins, pastor of Texhoma United Methodist Church and Frank Bugner, officiating.  Services are entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Texhoma and Guymon.
