Mildred Oleta Stump, 98, of Hardesty passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020. Mildred was born April 7, 1921, at the home of her parents, Zella (Graves) and Oscar Bingley, in the Hardesty community. She graduated from Hardesty High School and went on to attend cosmetology school in Tulsa. She married her forever sweetheart, David Buford Stump, July 3, 1942. They made their home at the Stump farm/ranch southeast of Hardesty. Mildred had a beauty shop in Hardesty for several years. She helped with the farm by cooking for harvest crews, driving tractors, and even bailed feed. She made clothing, tended a garden, and canned or pickled much of their food. Her God and her family were Mildred's life.
She attended the Hardesty Community Church most of her adult life. She was known as a prayer warrior for her friends but especially for her family. She and Buford were wonderful Godly
examples to everyone who knew them. Hospitality and service were her ministries. She often opened their home and cooked meals for their pastors, visiting evangelists, and those in need.
Everyone loved visiting because Mildred was an excellent cook. She absolutely loved getting together with family and was very proud of their achievements. Her pies, noodles, and bread were unrivaled. She attended as many events her kids and grandkids participated in as she could. She and Buford rarely missed a ballgame, a stock show, or a music performance.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Zella Bingley, her husband, Buford, her son, Merrill, son-in-law, Truman Summerford, and her brother, Dale Bingley and his wife Ava Lou.
She is survived by daughter, Diana Summerford, son, David and wife Kathy, 13 grandkids, 17 great grandkids, and 7 great-great grandkids.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M Sunday, January 19th, 2020 at Hardesty Community Church with Brian Chapman officiating
Interment will follow services afterward at Hartville Cemetery east of Hardesty, Oklahoma
