Maria Estrada Montoya, 87 year old Texhoma, Oklahoma resident passed away at her home, Saturday, October 7,  2017 surrounded by her family.    

The daughter of Victoria (Ramirez) and Jesus Estrada, she was born June 30, 1930 in Reforma D.B. Chihuahua, Mexico.  She was married to Jose Gilberto (Gilbert) Montoya on August 26, 1964.  The Montoya family moved from Chihuahua to Texhoma, OK in 1978.  Mr. Montoya passed away April 23, 2015.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Guymon.  Maria was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved playing cards with friends, spending time with family and grandkids, and had a great passion for baseball.

She is survived by  a daughter, Argelia Chacon and husband, Lorenzo of Texhoma; five sons, Lalo Soto and wife, Jovita; Saul Soto and wife, Susie; Mario Montoya and wife, Susana; Ruben Montoya and wife, Guadalupe; Raul Montoya and wife, Magdalena, all of Garden City, Kansas; two sisters, Natavidad Estrada Quiroz and Amelia Ronquillo.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Janeth and James Hager of Goodwell, OK; Judy and Barry Zollinger of Guymon, OK; Ruby Montoya, Jessica Montoya, Adrianna Montoya, Erik Montoya, Edgar Montoya, Mario Montoya, Cynthia Montoya, April Montoya, Julia Montoya, Alicia Montoya, and Angie Vergara of Garden City, KS; Joe Vergara and Billy Vergara of Lubbock, TX and 13 great grandchildren, Jowie and husband, Cash Overton, Jaiden Hager, Jaci McDaniel, Bree Zollinger, Shai Vergara, Jasmine Vergara, Shania Vergara, Ana Marie Vergara, Anastasia Vergara, Dulce Soto, Jose Soto, Nevaeh Vergara, and Analiegh Vergara. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Dionisio Estrada, two sisters, Atanasia Estrada Flores and Catalina Lopez, and a grandson, Vicente “Freddie” Vergara.

The Rosary will be Tuesday evening, October October 10th, 7:00 PM at Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel, 501 NW Fifth Street, Guymon.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday morning, October 11th, 11:00 AM, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1220 North Quinn, Guymon, with Father Raul Sanchez, officiating.   Interment will be in Texhoma Cemetery and services are entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon and Texhoma.
