I recently learned of her passing. I cannot imagine the wound her death has left. I am unable to produce any words of value to you over the loss of that beautiful girl. May the Holy Spirit rain comfort on you now and during future moments of deep grief. I am so very sorry for your loss Angela and Mike.

I am so sad to hear of Laina's passing. She was a brilliant, tenacious, and curious student. Laina was in several of my physiology/endocrinology courses, and she taught me a lot in our discussions of what she was going through. I'm so thankful I got to know her.

I am so sorry to hear of Laina's passing (I just heard). She was in my Biology of Sustainability class at UST a number of years ago. I feel like I was very lucky to get to know her. We had many small group discussions in my class, and it always seemed that Laina had a lot of great wisdom to share with her peers. She had a beautiful soul, and I'm thankful for having known her. She is one of those students that you never forget. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I was one of Laina's neuroscience professors, and I loved having her in classes. She had such a rich, nuanced, and mature perspective and faced her illness with such grace. I remember a fantastic conversation we had about the book My Stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Taylor, a neuroscientist who had a stroke and wrote about her personal experience with it. I am grateful for the time I got to spend with her.

I so enjoyed teaching and working with Laina to teach her the violin. Her love for music was deep and passionate and we had stimulating conversations about music and it's power. Off and on she had lessons with me and I just recently found out about her passing. I am so deeply sorry for your loss and I will really miss connecting with her and her wise energy. To the sweet family of Laina I want to send my condolences . Laina was a senior my freshman year in high school. I didn’t know Laina before then but with basketball being my passion I looked up to her. Being just a freshman I was of no importance but I can remember the kind personality of Laina and how she would always have the whole locker room laughing. My heart hurts for Drew and Parker because I could not fathom loosing a sister. Sending my love and prayers for strength and comfort that only God can provide.

Although you don't know me, I feel like I know you from hearing kind words spoken by Bonnie (my younger sister) and Hunter. My heart is so heavy and I cannot fathom the loss you must feel right now and will always feel. Your daughter, Laina, sounds like one exceptional girl!

I had the honor and pleasure of working with Laina for the last couple of years. I cannot express how much she will be missed by the many, many people who were able to interact with her. "Brilliant" is probably the best word to describe her intellect, her wit, her smile, and her caring heart. She was in pain so much of the time, yet could reach out and make the burdens of others so much lighter by her comments and caring. I love the picture you chose for this obituary. She loved her dog so very much, and was so sad to lose him. She spoke of her family members and their support and love often, and you were clearly very precious to her. My condolence on your loss. She is truly missed.
