Jaquetta LaDean Behne Hancock

Jaquetta Hancock, 56, passed away October 18, 2017 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Jaquetta LaDean Behne was born November 30, 1960 at Guymon Memorial Hospital to Joyce Mae (Mcdonald) and Jimmie D Behne.  Jaquetta is the eldest of six children.

Jaquetta grew up loving horses and spent a lot of her younger years riding and training them, with her favorite being a palomino named Beauty Gail.  She was honored as 1978 Texas County Sheriff Posse Jr. Queen. She attended Guymon Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1979. After graduating high school, Jaquetta moved to Altus, Ok for a brief time and became a mom to three wonderful children. She moved back home to Guymon where she met the love of her life. Jaquetta and Leslie Wayne Hancock were united in marriage February 26, 1986. The family soon moved to Dickinson, ND and made it their home. She quickly became employed with Able, Inc as a living skills counselor.  Jaquetta and Les became inspired to go back to school and enrolled at Dickinson State University. While attending Dickinson State, she obtained her Associates of Applied Science in Nursing in 2006 and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2009. Jaquetta became involved in college life and soon was on the Campus Activities Board, serving as president for three years. She was also president of the Students Other than Average and was a very proud member of Omni Crom Psi Honor Society. In the pursuit of their graduate degrees, Les and Jaquetta moved to Mankato, MN and attended Minnesota State University. When Les’ health began to fail, the couple decided to withdraw from school and focus on getting him well.  In May, 2017, the couple later moved to Sunbright, TN,  where Jaquetta was able to fulfill her life dream of owning some acreage and having a couple of horses.

Jaquetta loved life and the beauty of God’s creation. She enjoyed fishing, photography and gardening. Clouds and sunsets would always grab her attention. She loved taking pictures of clouds, especially unique ones. Jaquetta enjoyed going with Les when he would photograph weddings. She always thought the daddy/daughter dances made the made the best photos.  Jaquetta was an active member of the Latter Day Saints Church and had deep love for the Lord. He was her refugee and strength.
