Mary Doylene Schafer McLaughlin began her eternal life Sunday, June 25, 2017.

The daughter of Mary Elizabeth (Harvey) and Doyle A. Schafer was born April 9, 1936 in Texhoma, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Texhoma schools and Oklahoma State University.  Doylene married Ronald Eugene McLaughlin on April 3, 1966 in Port Angeles, Washington.  Her life as a Naval wife began.  She loved traveling, meeting new lifelong friends, and playing pinochle.  Doylene was a technical writer and editor at Tinker AFB, Cubic Corporation, Lockheed Missiles and Space, Minimed Technology and the Lockheed Corporation. 

Doylene is preceded in death by her parents and husband.  Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Richard Love, El Paso, Texas; three nieces:  Kay and husband, Brad Kincaid, Mustang, Oklahoma; Nancy and husband, Robert Zwezerijnen of El, Paso; and Stephanie and husband, Chris White of Burleson, Texas; and their families.  Her relatives and friend in the Texhoma region were a part of her treasured memories. 

The family would like to thank her neighbors and friends, the Visiting Angels and Hendrick Hospice of Abilene, Texas for their dedicated care and the Girdner Funeral Home for their compassionate service in Abilene. 

A graveside service will be held at the Texhoma Cemetery on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM.  The service is entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, Guymon, Oklahoma.
