Dorothy Mathews

Dorothy Mathews, 88 year old Keyes, Oklahoma resident passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Cimarron Memorial Hospital in Boise City, Oklahoma.

Dorothy Alice Minemeyer was born April 7, 1930 in Plains, Montana to Morris King and Stella (Snook) Minemeyer. Dorothy attended the plains school system.

On July 11, 1945 Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Lee Mathews. To this union six children were born. Dorothy and Robert made their home in New Mexico and then in Masterson, Texas before moving to the Oklahoma panhandle which would be their forever home.

Dorothy was a homemaker and loved to feed the birds every spring and summer. She loved working in her yard to make it look the very best. What brought the most joy to Dorothy was spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 2011, a son Robert Jr. in 2011, one daughter Barbara George in 2018 and four sisters and four brothers.

Dorothy leaves behind four daughters; Connie Japhet of Colbert, Oklahoma, Beverly Elder and husband Cecil of Elk City, Oklahoma, Pat Whitfield of Keyes, Oklahoma and Shirley Barnum and Husband Toby of Keyes. She also leaves behind a sister Georgie Larum and husband Henry of Missoula, Montana, along with 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be private per family request.

Graveside services will take place 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Willowbar  Cemetery outside of Keyes with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Keyes EMT’s and may be accepted by the funeral home at, P.O. Box 1306 Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
