Dorene Utt

Dorene Utt, 86, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Golden Pond Living Center, Golden, Colorado.

The daughter of Dulcey Antonia (Greene) and James Thomas Duffey, Dorene Fern was born October 13, 1932 in Menlo, Kansas.  Dorene graduated from Menlo High School.  She was united in marriage to Ernest Eugene Utt on March 13, 1960 in Garden City, Kansas.  Gene and Dorene moved to Guymon in 1967, where Gene continued his career with Cities Service Gas Company and Dorene began her Guymon banking career.  She was a bank teller at First National Bank and later was Vice President at Bank of the Panhandle.  She retired from banking in 1994. 

Dorene and Gene enjoyed fishing together, in lakes all over the country.  They loved their church family at First Christian Church, where Dorene was active in several capacities.  Dorene later moved her church membership to Panhandle Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed handwork, crossword puzzles and reading.   Gene passed away in 2007 and Dorene moved to Colorado in 2016 to be near her sister.

Dorene is survived by her daughter, Robin Carol Smith and husband, Gilbert of Grants Pass, Oregon;  son, Douglas Utt and wife, Sandy of Fayetteville, Georgia; sister, Phyllis Freerksen of Lakewood, Colorado; three grandchildren, Danielle Cloyd, Brittany Smith and Heather Utt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Cynthia Anne Utt, her husband, and two brothers, John Leo Duffey and Otto Lynn Duffey. 

Memorial services will be conducted Friday, April 5th, 10:30 AM  at Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel, 501 N Fifth, Guymon, with Rev. Carol LaMar, close friend and pastor of Panhandle Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Burial of cremains will be in Elmhurst Cemetery, Guymon.
