Carl Fleming Obituary

Keyes, Oklahoma – Carl Fleming, 89, longtime  area farmer, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at BSA Hospice of the Southwest in Amarillo, Texas.

The son of Lessie (Bishop) and Roy Fleming, Carl was born November 3, 1928 in Hugoton, Kansas.  Carl  moved from Hugoton to Keyes after his freshman year  in high school looking for work. Carl credits Bill Hiner with giving him a place to stay and  letting him do odd jobs to support himself as long as he graduated high school.  Carl graduated with the Keyes High School class of 1947.  Carl and Bonnie Jean (Whisennand ) were married on August 3, 1949 .  Bonnie passed away in 2003. 

Carl is survived by his daughter, Lynn Downs and husband, Herky of Amarillo; two sons, David Fleming and wife, Becky of Keyes, and Martin Fleming and wife, Susan of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Dustin Downs of Amarillo, Kevin Fleming of Lowell, Indiana, April Johnson of Levittown, Pennsylvania, Todd Fleming of Hesston, Kansas,  Chad Fleming of Elkhart, Kansas, Jessica Sanchez of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday afternoon, July 6, 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Keyes, with Rev. Mark Thompson, pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow in Willowbar Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon and Boise City, Oklahoma.

Memorials may be designated to the Keyes Volunteer Fire Department and may be mailed to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, P.O. Box 1306, Guymon, OK  73942.
